Academic Services & Classroom size
At Viva College School our streams are composed of 35~45 students, distributed in groups of 5-7 learners respectively especially in the New Lower Secondary School Curriculum. Our classroom sizes are made so in order to foster collaboration and discussion’s, increased teacher student interaction and feedback.
In an attempt to meet the ever rising and changing demands of our clients, we decided to provide an exceptional academic service for instance personalised learning plans tailored towards the learners’ individual needs.
The employment of expert teachers across the different disciplines with a rather proven track record of excellence, the timely and comprehensive syllabus coverage, the integration of ICT when teaching so as to enhance learning. We also carry out three phases of assessment that is holiday work, mid-term exams and the end of term examinations as a way of giving academic accountability to our dear parents and guardians.
Our devoted and dedicated staff always keeps around the school so as to increase on the contact hours with the students through consultation, the teaching of practical’s right from senior one, notes scrutiny so as to ensure that students have all the notes, marking using the Viva strategy (what went well and even better if), lesson observations, team teaching, facilitations across all subjects by chief examiners, internal and external seminars, tours to mention but a few.
Teacher Student Rapport
At viva we believe that strong teacher~ student relationship is the foundation of academic success and personal growth. Our dedicated teachers foster a supportive and inclusive environment, empowering students to reach their full potential.
This good teacher student rapport has helped to increase learners’ motivation, improved on their academic performance, enhanced the attainment of social skills such as communication, empathy and conflict resolution as well as strengthening of the emotional well-being of the student.
This rapport is sponsored by the small sized classrooms, openness in the communication and the employment of the student-centred approach a teaching method that has helped the teachers draw near to their learners and meet their individual needs. At class tutor level, the class tutor’s carryout PSHE sessions and one on one personal discussions with their learners no wonder they know their students at heart.
Behaviour Management Policy
Reinforce positive behaviour for learning, rewarded termly whereas we condemn negative behaviour for learning. At viva college school, we believe that a positive and supportive learning environment is essential for academic excellence and personal growth.
Our behaviour management policy is designed to promote respect, positive coexistence, civility, inclusiveness, academic excellence and collaboration across the institution right from the board of directors to the student’s fraternity.
Pastoral Care Systems
Our pastoral care system is dedicated towards supporting the general welfare of our dear students. It prioritizes students’ well-being and success by ensuring that they engage with them on more personal grounds as father and mother figures a thing that has helped to ensure that there is a conducive environment in the places of residence for the students. At viva college school, we believe that every child deserves to thrive in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Our pastoral care team is trained to promote well-being, social development and the academic success of the students. The pastoral team has both female and male staff members who attend to the specific learners needs right from when the students enter the school, receiving and checking in of the learners into their respective houses, ensuring the distribution and maintenance of the school uniform, personal administration and the general sanitation of their dormitories plus guidance and counselling.
Spiritual Nourishment
We are a secular community accommodative of all religions that is to say Muslims, Anglicans, Seventh Day Adventists and Catholics.We recognise the fact that in today’s fast paced world, its truthfully easy to lose sight of what truly matters especially as regards one’s spirituality and hence, we believe that spiritual nourishment is essential for a balanced and a fulfilling life.
Our spiritual growth and development programs are designed to help the students cultivate mindfulness, compassion and inner peace through the confirmation classes and worship nights for the Christians and the Juma prayers that offers recognition to all the religious groups.
Selfcare & Hygiene
We believe that self-care and hygiene are essential for academic success and the overall, well-being of the students. Our programs promote healthy habits, self-care awareness through physical education and healthy eating.
Our school menu is carefully designed so as to provide a balanced diet to our learners a thing that has so much endeared them to their school. All the students are encouraged to bath daily, wash and iron their uniforms, neatly organise their beds, clean and organise their dormitories to mention but a few.
Games & Talent
At viva college school, we believe that games and sports are essential for developing well rounded individuals. Our programs foster team work, discipline, physical fitness. We therefore, have team sports like soccer, basketball, volleyball and recreational games like chess, debate, quiz, spelling bee, poetry and public speaking among others all of which are tailor made so as to help keep the students refreshed and re energized away from the monotony of the class room.
We have a clear demarcation of our sports facility with the ladies having their football and basketball court near their dormitories for easy access and freedom away from the boys who also have their own facilities in the lower part of the school. Our students enjoy their sports and actively participate in their respective houses.
